"Priye," I call out to Samhita as she strides ahead of me, face set in an angry scowl, muttering something I can barely catch.
"Don't talk to me," she snaps, quickening her pace.
I sigh, shaking my head. Some things truly remain constant across lifetimes—women and their fiery tempers over the smallest things. I've been apologizing to her ever since we left that hall, still she refuses to let this go. And all of it stems from Veervardhana! If he hadn't baited me into that fight, my mood wouldn't have soured, and she wouldn't have been left waiting outside for so long.
"I'm sorry, Samhita. Tell me, what can I do to make it up to you?" I attempt to take her hand, but the withering glare she shoots me makes me think better of it, and I draw back.
"If Veer truly wanted to leave, the least he could have done was bid me farewell. It was rude of him—and you didn't even have the decency to let me know, leaving me out there waiting for ages. And don't think I've forgotten about Reesha, either! She had the audacity to make a move on you, and you didn't let me put her in her place!" She huffs, crossing her arms, clearly not ready to forgive and forget just yet.
