"Quickly, inspect the decorations in the hall one final time. If anything has been overlooked, inform me immediately," the head maid, Mahitha, commands the workers with a tone of authority tempered by efficiency.
The palace is buzzing with an energy that's almost palpable. Preparations have reach their crescendo. Laughter and conversation float through the halls, creating an illusion of joy. But, beneath this, a knot of unease is hard to shake.
But this uneasiness isn't rooted in a desire to flee from here. It's something else entirely this time. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel so helpless, with conflicting emotions swirling in my heart. Despite my attempts to suppress them for so long, they've resurfaced with full force.
I decide to find some comfort by talking to Liza and Rayan, hoping it'll ease the storm inside me. As I head up the stairs to the upper floor, I'm all set to reach the last chamber. But before I get there, I catch the sound of the workers nearby, chatting away.
"Thank goodness the marriage is scheduled for the same day as Maharaja's special occasion. Otherwise, it would have been incredibly challenging to prepare everything in such a short span of time," a lady remarks with relief.
